Supreme Court Steps In: Kerala’s Plea Over Special Electoral Roll Revision
UPSC Current Affairs Notes | 2026 Prelims & Mains
⚖️ What’s the Issue?
Kerala has requested the Election Commission (EC) to extend the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls beyond 13 December 2024, as it coincides with local body elections, creating administrative overload.
The Supreme Court termed Kerala’s request “just and fair” and asked the EC to consider it “sympathetically and objectively.”
