India’s National Statement at CoP30 (Belém, Brazil – 2025)
Delivering India’s statement at the Leaders’ Summit of the 30th Conference of Parties (CoP30) to the UNFCCC on 7 November 2025, Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia, India’s Ambassador to Brazil, reaffirmed India’s strong commitment to climate action guided by Equity and the principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capabilities (CBDR-RC).

CoP30 is being hosted by Brazil in Belém from 10–21 November 2025, marking the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement and recalling the legacy of the 1992 Rio Summit.

India appreciated Brazil’s leadership in launching the Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF) and joined it as an Observer, calling it a vital step for the preservation of tropical forests.
🌿 India’s Achievements in Climate Action

Emission intensity of India’s GDP reduced by 36% (2005–2020), with this downward trend continuing.

Non-fossil fuel sources now contribute over 50% of India’s installed power capacity — achieving the NDC target five years early.

India has created an additional carbon sink of 2.29 billion tonnes of CO₂ equivalent between 2005–2021.

India is now the world’s 3rd-largest producer of renewable energy, with nearly 200 GW installed capacity.
