The national standard introduced by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to test and assess bomb disposal systems is known as IS 19445:2025.

Designation & Scope (नामकरण और दायरा): The standard is designated as IS 19445:2025.
It covers critical blast mitigation equipment, including Bomb Disposal Suits, bomb blankets, bomb baskets, and bomb inhibitors. नामकरण और दायरा: इस मानक को IS 19445:2025 नाम दिया गया है।

It was developed by a special panel under the Arms and Ammunition for Civilian Use Sectional Committee of BIS, convened by the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), which is a premier Chandigarh-based wing of the DRDO. विकास और सहयोग: इस मानक को गृह मंत्रालय के एक अनुरोध के बाद तैयार किया गया था।

The framework provides comprehensive parameters for testing equipment under controlled blast conditions, evaluating two primary hazards:

Alignment with Global Practice: While IS 19445:2025 incorporates globally accepted performance concepts, its core configuration has been meticulously customized to suit Indian environmental conditions, threat scenarios, and domestic operational needs.
It strongly boosts the manufacturing quality of domestic equipment under the Make in India initiative.
